INSPIRATION
For some reason, I’m always crazy about the ocean, sky, whale, and moonlight. In this 3 weeks animation project, I tried to come up with a solution – to combine those elements (using watercolor) and graphical visual experience. Therefore, I came up with a concept of Inner & Outer representation of mind and behavior.
People always say that we can never understand other person’s thought, the original idea was to demonstrate the contrast between the ongoing thoughts as well as the outer expression. During the process of the storyboard, I decided to raise this concept into another level, which relates to my experience of growing up in the education system heavily rely on the standardized tests.
There’s a theory says that humans are born from chaos, there are no rules, each individual is totally different, but as we grow older, we enter schools – a smaller dimension of society. At school, we are trained to obey rules, blend in with the group and slowly divide our mind into the outer and inner expressions.
Believe or not, this super abstract, non-sense storyboard totally followed this concept.
My illustration made in 2017 using C4D has become the major inspiration for this project.
